ECHIC Chair Frederik Van Dam represented the consortium during a round-table discussion on “Response-Ability as an Institutional Challenge” at the “Response-Abilities” conference, which took place on 25 and 26 June 2026 in Giessen.
The anniversary conference marked the 25th anniversary of the Gießener Graduiertenzentrum Kulturwissenschaften (GGK) and the 20th anniversary of the International Graduate Centre for the Study of Culture (GCSC). Under the theme “Response-Abilities”, the central question was how academic institutions can respond to social, cultural and political changes whilst simultaneously taking responsibility for the way in which knowledge is produced. Against this backdrop, Van Dam, on behalf of ECHIC, contributed to the discussion on institutional responsibility and international academic cooperation.
